Hoşgeldiniz, Hoş Bulduk is a pop-up gallery generously hosted at the Somerville Armory through the Somerville Arts Council's BIPOC Space Initative.
Featuring 12 artists, makers, and creatives, the gallery invites visitors to come to the apartment of the gallerist/curator/expressive arts therapist, Lou Lim (@ldlim83), where you’ll be offered authentic Turkish çay and/or coffee made with a Turkish porcelain pour-over dripper (@etkindesign), see/buy local art and furniture arranged in a three room home (i.e. kitchen/dining room, living room, and art studio/office), and access community activities like yoga classes through Claire Tian (@clairemtian) and a drop-in art studio managed by Lou.
Date of Event: May 1-29, 2022 (Fri/Sun 2-6, Sat 10-6, and other days by appt via @ldlim83)
The gallery, Hoşgeldiniz, Hoş Bulduk, is a return to the familiar for Lou. Originally a gallery at Bow Market (@bowmarket) in 2021 as Hoşgeldiniz, this living room gallery wants to invite you to a home where hospitality is vital to the experience. And now with the gallery in full form, Hoşgeldiniz, Hoş Bulduk translate into “Welcome to my home, it’s been a long journey”. As we navigate a world where the pandemic stopped so many forms of life and community (and even the gallery’s original intent in 2021) the current phase of the world gives permission to allow guests into the Hoşgeldiniz, Hoş Bulduk home in its intended form - a place where you can land, rest, have a cup of coffee or Turkish tea, share life, and support local art.
