Nibble Book Release Party: Exploring Food, Art & Culture in Union Square—and Beyond
About the Book Release Party
We are celebrating our new book, Nibble, which has taken over a year to create! This 132-page color book features articles, stories and interviews about food, art and culture in our beloved Union Square. It also includes over 25 recipes from local cooks and chefs and a guide to the neighborhood's restaurants, markets and food producers. At the event, we will hand out copies of the book to many folks who contributed to the book—cooks, writers, photographers and artists. It will also be an opportunity for others to buy the book. There will also be a few food demos, interactive foodie activities—like "Test Your Nose!" and "Portrait for a Food Story"—and, of course, plenty of things to nibble on.
More about the book
This book focuses on Union Square, a community in Somerville, Massachusetts. In these pages, we explore how food tells a story about the square and plays an important placemaking role. We think Union Square is a very special neighborhood right now; it is diverse, artsy, yet has enough grit to keep things interesting. This is illustrated through the food landscape, with its beautiful, motley mix of pizza joints, mom-and-pop markets, lively pubs, farmers’ markets, posh new restaurants and brimming global flavor. This book aims to capture this dynamic—and delicious—sense of place.
"There is so much happening in Union Square right now. We have everything—Japanese, American, Mexican, tapas, sushi. I feel proud to be here." José García, co-owner and chef of Ebi Sushi
