Dirty Water Brass Band, a raucous street band, a staunch contributor to the many grooves that make Boston tick. We bring our movable block party to you, doesn’t matter where. Our style is eclectic, a mix of second line, soul, R&B, motown, rock, jazz and more. Dirty Water, unplugged and mobile, has a particular penchant for playing outdoors. And we do NOT "have to be in by twelve o'clock!" The hat will be passed for the Somerville Community Land Trust.

Eight Foot Manchild grew out of friendships formed in the HONK Festival community. After playing in various bands in this network for a number of years, bandleader Dylan Foley formed EFM out of a desire to synthesize elements of stoner rock, doom metal, and street brass funk, and throw in a bit of hip hop sampling aesthetic for good measure. The aim was to find a sonic crossroads somewhere between Electric Wizard, Budos Band, King Crimson, and Wu-Tang Clan. The lyrical content, inspired mainly by the irreverent humor of Frank Zappa, draws on everything from religion and philosophy to kung fu and Godzilla movies.

Raunchy circus roots. Polished precision performances. A joyful cacophony of Balkan, Klezmer and funk, with a tasteful thrash of metal thrown in for good measure. No matter the occasion, Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band has got the brass to get you up and dancing.
Some whisper in hushed tones that ENSMB is the ultimate herald of mirthful discord, while others have gone mad at the mere mention of the name. It’s music shrouded in mystery and wicked intrigue. But there’s one thing we know for sure:
Dance!
Party!
Vibes!
Better come see for yourself
Horns will wail. Shoulders will shimmy. Faces will melt

School of HONK is an open community street band and music school. Every Sunday, we take our moves and grooves to the streets, playing lively music to inspire our neighbors and bind our community together.

This year, Dirty Water is totally psyched to be playing for you on and by the front stoop of the Revolutionary Medical MJ Clinic in East Somerville. Kudos to the city for welcoming such an establishment to this great neighborhood.

We're a ten-or-so piece street band that loves playing out on the streets of Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston (or otherwise at roller derby bouts, or at local breweries, or at your wedding...)! Stick around and you'll hear some surf rock, some New Orleans jazz/funk, some pop, some Klezmer, some punk.. a little bit of everything.
