We are a folky cover band presenting music by Andrew Bird, Beirut, Grizzly Bear, and others for Porchfest 2018!
We'll have Today Junior playing a rip roaring surf rock set in the driveway with a second acoustic set of covers and originals by Austin Perea if he gets drunk enough.
Today Junior is:

Mike O'Toole (Drums/Back Vocals)
Modern Painters is an autobiographical coming-of-age myth chronicling the Sartrean situation of a present-day American youth. Prodded ever-forward in a world characterized by competing dogmas, nihilist hedonism, and a deconstructionist “unmasking of” a society once steadfast in its ways, Painters is concerned less with the contemporary state of being-in-the-world than with the process of the creative act within it.
A ragtag collective of energetic yuppies bringing infectious energy to pop, ska, indie and alt rock covers. Come hear some of your faves from the 90s, 00's, and today reimagined by a troupe of fun-loving amigos.
Eclectic a capella, from classical to contemporary and beyond.
Gillian Grogan (on first): Full-bodied folk in a mossy chalice. What more could you desire? "An unforgiving tuggin' at your roots, no matter where you come from." -Woven Collective https://gilliangrogan.bandcamp.com/
Big Spender Trio (on last): Down homestyle, deep fried hammond B3 organ + vintage keys driven funk. Watch yourself now! https://bigspendertrio.bandcamp.com/
Kristina Staplefeld can’t perform on Sunday, unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Brett and Ryan were in a band together throughout college, where they played monthly shows at the legendary Whitney Bar and Grill in the great city of Hamden, Connecticut. After college, they both found themselves in Boston, and began playing as an acoustic duo at whatever gigs they could get: bars, bridal showers, weddings, birthdays, house parties, and everything in between. After playing together for 10 years, they've got a pretty wide ranging set list- everything from Hall & Oates, to Blackstreet, to The Kinks, to Alanis Morissette, and much more.
Tupelo Junction and the Jan and Catey Duo will each be performing a 1 hour set at 77 Newbury Street. The Jan and Catey Duo will perform from 12:00PM - 1:00PM and Tupelo Junction will perform from 1:00PM - 2:00PM.
Donations will be collected for Conor Fortin's (Tupelo Junction) service trip to Haiti this summer to work at the Fondation Pour Les Enfants d'Haiti's Children's Village (orphanage) in Port Au Prince.
Tupelo Junction is a folkgrass cover band out of Somerville, MA that dabbles in the style of roots, country, and bluegrass.
The Jan and Catey Duo is an original contemporary jazz/folk duo from Boston's own Berklee College of Music.
The Snacktones play originals and select covers across a variety of genres with influences in rock, reggae, blues, american folk, and beyond. We enjoy ourselves most when joined by friends and will feature a number of great Somerville artists sitting in on a fun and playful Porchfest jam. Come on by!
2:00 - 3:00 Buddy V
3:00 - 4:00 Jess Green
Buddy V is an Americana artist. He will be playing a solo acoustic set comprised of tunes off his most recent record along with other classics.
Jess Green pulls inspiration from artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Carol King, Joni Mitchell to Ray Charles, and Diana Krall to Stevie Wonder. In her music you will hear singable meldodies blended with colors and chord progressions that stretch the boundaries of traditional pop/singer-songwriter music and bring in a subtle but clear undercurrent of jazz. Her show will mix music she's written with timeless jazz, folk, and blues tunes.
