A family friendly environment showcasing a history of the Hip Hop culture.
The Evolution of Hip Hop Festival was created by a group of adults to share positive rap music with families, learn the history of Hip Hop music and to provide knowledge about what Hip Hop brings to our communities. The festival will include musical performances by local talent, spoken word performances, a Frederick Douglass Reading, vendors, and hands-on activities. This includes a multi-media booth, sponsored by SCATV, for you to express yourself, and a sustainability booth where you learn how to live in harmony in the same way Hip Hop music provides a method to live in peace. The goal is to offer a family friendly environment showcasing a visual timeline of the history of the Hip Hop culture.
The festival is produced in collaboration with SCATV and Somerville Line producer, Yvette Wilks.
