The Steve Walther Orchestra tickle and scrape their way across the dark underbelly of popular song. They are at once exuberant and melancholic, a foghorn at Sunday service, a testament in a traffic jam. They are a spiraling dervish of strings and horns with a thorny backbone of garage soul in a barrel of barking spirits.

The Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band is a 30 piece “raucous, stomp-your-foot-and-belt-out-the-choruses” New Orleans-style street band, based in Somerville and Cambridge, Massachusetts. We combine music with social action, slamming out the sounds of the legendary Crescent City for peace rallies, street festivals, parades, and benefits. We are also a part of the organizing force behind HONK!, a festival of activist street bands that takes place every October in Somerville’s Davis Square.

"Shake That Thing!" plays good-times New Orleans party music for all ages. Mean vocals from Caroline Campbell McCormick (formerly of The Pennies) are joined by a kickin' rhythm section, bouncing sousaphone, and spicy horn solos. Stop by, and shake your thing!

The Somervillains are a group of musicians who have been playing with each other for years who love all things jazz, funk, hip-hop, and beyond. Come on down from 2-4 PM as they play arrangements of songs spanning new and old including the likes of Kanye West, Flying Lotus, Drake, Boyz II Men, and Miles Davis.

Spontaneous groovy originals and improvisations with a small but effective acoustic instrumentation. Who knows what will happen!
We have neighbors rocking out at 2pm and at 4pm, so we're going to play 3pm-4pm.

The Street Holler Serenade is an after school club at SHS which has been inspired by Honk fest, taking back public space, and street performing in general. One thing that makes our group different is that we aim to include electric guitars and basses by using portable battery powered amplifiers.
