Primary influences include Tom Waits, the Rolling Stones, The Band, Wilco and the Devil Makes Three. Website and many more details to follow. Stay tuned. Click the link below our pic from the Union Sq. Farmers Market to read about us from Porchfest 2012. We loved Porchfest 2013 as well!!!
Drop by for a good time, great music, amazing company and even some four square. Also, remember to ask us about Herbstalk 2014 (http://herbstalk.org/). See you then!

Take four people from Louisiana, Vermont, Connecticut, and Sweden.
Add equal parts of folk, old-fashioned country, with a pinch
of bluegrass and gospel. Put it into a pot of cover tunes from
the last century. Spice with plenty of harmony vocals and add an
original or two. That's Tail - rootsy, acoustic, and pleasant.
What to expect? Songs of Neil Young, Beatles, Dylan, Traditionals,
Steve Earl, Grateful Dead, Pixies, 80’s pop\70s hits, originals.
All presented with a very personal touch.

We choose our songs carefully - and so should you. The Splinters have been known to play at bars, cafes, sidewalks, parks, farmers markets, churches, ponds, open mics, private and not so private parties. 2 people, 2 instruments, we make music that people like.
J Johnson (mandolin, vocals) and Chris Reckling (guitar, vocals) are The Splinters. We play bluegrass, fiddle tunes, swing, and Americana music, adding our own unique spin to the classics. Our influences include Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Tony Rice, David Grisman, OCMS, Gillian Welch, Bill Frisell, Duke Ellington, Chris Thile, Frank Zappa, and many others.
