Whether you know them as Hallaquitas, Bollitos, or Venezuelan dumplings, these corn flour-based, gluten-free treats are scrumptious!
Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, Carolina Salinas and Carolina Garcia bring their culinary chops to the Nibble classroom. In our third summer cooking class, we’ll craft two different types of bollitos and wrap them in cornhusks for cooking: red pepper and green onion, and mixed cheese. Top your bollito the Caracas way: sour cream, more cheese, and the Carolinas’ famous albahaca basil sauce that we’ll learn to make in class. Served with pollo guisado (tender chicken in sauce made with onions, peppers, and garlic), your Venezuelan summer meal has arrived! We’ll satisfy your after-work hunger with a refreshing bruschetta appetizer: tomatoes, fresh cheese, prosciutto, and olive oil served on toast. Bring your knife skills as we prepare a classic pico de gallo; light and fresh tasting. This class will focus on the Bollito technique, a hands-on experience best shared with friends and family. Viva los bollitos. See you there!
