The Sudden Quartet is the reunion of a groove-oriented modern jazz/funk/rock group of old friends playing original compositions and improvisations. The members currently live in Somerville, Providence, Los Angeles and Chicago, and perform with bands including Soulsha (Boston), Transpiler (Cambridge), Negro Galacticus (LA) and Small Talk (Boston). Sur5ILL (pronounced ser-vahy-vuhl) is a rapper/producer/guitarist from Boston, MA. He began rapping at the age of 14 (which was approximately a million years ago) after being imbued with the spirit of hip-hop in the '90s. Fortunately, the combination of the 1990s and a predominantly white private high school also saw the likes of grunge and alternative rock music greatly shape his musical palate.
Sur5ILL, the self-professed nerd, has been furiously rapping solo since the dissolution of the jam band, The LE Project, with which Sur5ILL was involved as a vocalist and rhythm guitarist from 2009 to 2012.

The Somervillains are a group of musicians who have been playing with each other for years who love all things jazz, funk, hip-hop, and beyond. Come on down from 2-4 PM as they play arrangements of songs spanning new and old including the likes of Kanye West, Flying Lotus, Drake, Boyz II Men, and Miles Davis.
