Classical

I am a classically trained bassoonist with a specialization in historical performance. I am a freelancer and have played with many organizations across the state, the country, and internationally, including our very own Handel and Haydn, Boston Baroque, and Boston Early Music Festival. I hold degrees from Indiana University, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and The Juilliard School. I strive to be able to play as much of the historical gamut as possible, playing the appropriate historical version of the bassoon as called for by the music.

It’s hard to know what to say about The Impromptus. That’s because the band is You. You’ll select the instruments and the style and guide your high-strung but friendly virtual musicians through their performance. While you’re at it, you’ll choreograph an animated visual artwork that echoes the (presumably ingenious) music flowing from your fingertips.
 

El Sistema Somerville is a daily afterschool music program based at the East Somerville Music School.  We will be presenting both a string ensemble and wind ensemble of Somerville Public School students in Grades 3 - 8.  Locations: Deano's Pasta, located at 15 Garfield Ave, Somerville, MA 02145.  Deano's will selling all-natural raviolis, fresh pasta and sauces that day (and every day!)

David William Hughes is a singer, composer, conductor and actor whose work combines early music, comedy, and scholarship to create unique and exciting performances. He is joined for Porchfest by three special guests:

The instructors of the WholeTone Music Academy are about to crystalize into the WholeTone Family Band. Jessica Smith (Flute), Hayes Cummings (Guitar/Bass/Ukulele), Alejandro Castellano (Oud/Nay/Bass/Drums/Guitar), Mariia Gorkun (Violin), and Nora Maynard (Voice/Violin) will take the porch by storm! We will be bouncing between jazz standards, original tunes, & classical chamber music, as well as offering a whole set of open jam session for YOU to join us! A limited number of free 15min lessons on your instrument of choice will be offered, or bring your own instrument and jump in! Open to all ages & styles.
