Charles Marchany is a painter who has been studied at the Katherine Widmer School of Painting since 1999.  He is a regular participant in Somerville Open Studios and a regular presence in classes at the school.  You can see more of his work on the school’s Facebook page.

Please tell us about your background and how you came to Somerville?

I knew that Massachusetts is a beautiful state; before I moved from my beloved country Haiti, I visited many places in Boston-area, such as Mattapan, East Boston, and Cambridge, until I settled in my favorite place called Somerville.

First of all, thank you so much for this opportunity to be "Somerville Artist of the Month,"  especially this month of May with Somerville Open Studios happening May 4 & 5.  I know you work in a variety of media, would you talk a little bit about your different projects and approaches via those media?
