Returning after a one year hiatus, Somerville in Shorts will be sure to entertain, inspire, and make adults and kids laugh out loud! Though suggested attire is shorts, the title really refers to the two dozen or more short films that will be shown this year. Before the films start (8:30pm) grab your seats and some popcorn while listening to the Kristen Ford Band rocking the outdoor stage in Union Square at 7:30pm.
Films are collected and reviewed by Somerville Community Access Television and the Somerville Arts Council and are all made by Massachusetts artists and filmmakers.Among the entries selected are a popular episode from “It’s Jerry Time”, several entries from the Harvard animation program, and a short film about bicycle romance produced at SCATV.
This year the event will be dedicated to Karen Aqua and will showcase her films “Kakania” and the last piece she created, “Taxonomy”. If you would like to view more of Karen Aqua’s work you can visit the Brickbottom Gallery from June 30th - July 10th to watch some of her films.
