“This is my offering to my city – my love letter to Somerville…..What can I do other than what I know how to do, and looking at each other’s stuff, you realize you have the same thing. Stories are souls and it’s the people that are important to preserve. I am just hoping we can remember and hold onto it.” Bess Paupeck, curator of the Our Stories, Our Stuff exhibit at the Somerville.

Inside-OUT Gallery featured exhibit highlights from Somerville in “Our Stories, Our Stuff”: a curious array of “stuff” and the stories they tell, curated by Bess Paupeck. From wedding dresses to rubber ducks, “Our Stories, Our Stuff” is more than just a collection of objects. It is a celebration of the people of Somerville and their life experiences as expressed through their prized possessions and personal stories. As a visual walk down memory lane, the casual observer came almost feel those stories come to life. Spanning the generations, this exhibit brings people together by showcasing their items together in a large scale exhibition at the Somerville Museum - and the convergence of these things, and the stories that go with them, will offer a renewed sense of community at a time of rapid change for Somerville.
