Boston-based Afropop group Kina Zoré creates earthy-yet-electric African rhythms that echo from frontman Helder Tsinine’s hometown of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. The band combines a vibrant and infectious sound with song lyrics that depict critical social issues - war, HIV/AIDS, famine and more - that continue to affect Mozambicans and many others all over the world. Kina Zoré has been featured on NPR Tiny Desk, performed for Mozambican president Filipe Nyusi, and Tsinine's composition Va Gumulelana (They Are Fighting) won the John Lennon Songwriting Competition Grand Prize.
