Join the Intercambio Language and Culture Exchange Program – Fall 2025!

This is your opportunity to be part of a unique cultural exchange where you’ll practice language skills, build connections, and share stories with people from all over the world.
Intercambio is the perfect space to improve your fluency or share your language and culture in a welcoming, supportive environment. You’ll meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM alongside a diverse group of participants, all eager to learn and engage.
Why Join Intercambio?
Intercambio goes beyond language practice—it’s about creating connections and experiencing cultures firsthand. Each session is designed to give participants equal time practicing one language and switching to another, so everyone becomes both a student and a teacher. You’ll enjoy engaging conversations, learn from native speakers, and celebrate the diversity of global cultures.
The program runs for 8 consecutive weeks, concluding with a fun and delicious Global Food Potluck where participants share dishes representing their cultures—a perfect way to wrap up our journey together! In past sessions, we’ve welcomed participants from Chile, Peru, Mexico, Nepal, China, Brazil, Haiti, Guatemala, the United States, and beyond.
Plus, we offer optional cultural activities, such as field trips, museum visits, and public art walking tours, that further enrich the experience.
More than a program, Intercambio is a thriving community. Many participants stay connected and go on to join other Somerville Arts Council (SAC) programs, from Nibble cooking classes to ArtBeat, and some even serve on the SAC board. It’s a place where friendships and connections extend well beyond the sessions.
Who Can Join?
If you have an intermediate or higher level of proficiency in a foreign language and are eager to practice conversation with native speakers, Intercambio is the perfect fit for you!
