About Yart Sale

Yart Sale is a city-wide celebration of creativity, community, and outdoor artful fun. Think of it as a yard sale—but with a focus on ART!
Every summer, Somerville’s porches, driveways, and front yards transform into mini galleries and pop-up markets. Think art sale meets yard sale. Yart Sale is a place for artists, makers, collectors, and neighbors to share artwork, handmade goods, creative supplies, vintage finds, and secondhand treasures.
Each purchase supports local artists and makers—and no two yards are the same! It’s a day filled with unexpected treasures, neighborhood connections, and artistic joy for all ages.
Event Guidelines
- The event runs only from 12–6 PM. Your sale should take place within this time frame.
- Participants are welcome to sell a wide variety of art, handmade items, creative supplies, and secondhand treasures, including:
What Can Be Sold at Yart Sale?
- Original artwork (paintings, drawings, prints, illustrations)
- Photography
- Ceramics and pottery
- Jewelry
- Handmade goods and crafts
- Zines, comics, and books
- Band merchandise
- Stickers, pins, patches, and accessories
- Textiles, fiber arts, and sewing supplies
- Vintage and secondhand clothing
- Costumes and wearable art
- Art supplies (new or gently used)
- Craft supplies and materials
- Frames and display materials
- Tools and creative equipment
- Records, CDs, and musical items
- Plants and gardening supplies
- Home décor and unique vintage finds
- Collectibles and curiosities
- Creative reuse materials
- Other artist-made, vintage, or gently used goods
Not Permitted:
- Food or beverages
- Alcohol
- Tobacco or vaping products
- Any item prohibited by local, state, or federal law including: Illegal, counterfeit, or stolen goods, weapons or hazardous materials, live animals
- Yart Sale is intended to be a creative yard sale and art market, so if you’re unsure whether an item is appropriate, please contact the Somerville Arts Council before the event.
Application Process:
- Monday, June 15 – Application Opens
- Monday, July 20 at 11:59 PM – Application Deadline
When entering your address in the application, do not include apartment numbers — only the street number and name. Be sure to list the city as “Somerville.”
Don’t have a porch, yard or driveway? Resource list will be updated soon!
- The Somerville Community Growing Center for the past 6 years has offered their space for artists! Priority will go to artists based in Somerville. Please reach out to the growing center directly: [email protected]
