Feeling less lucky than usual? Sad to have missed two years of St. Patrick's Day? That all ends here with Trad Girl Summer, a group of traditional Irish musicians who are ready to bring the sounds of your local pub to Porchfest. TGS is a today-only group of fiddlers, bagpipers, flute players, concertina players, and whomever else shows up that day. We'll slash through some reels and jigs and hornpipes and maybe a barndance (by audience request.) Grab a pint, pull up a chair, and tap your foot to some rollicking tunes. Please join flutist Sophia Putajovsky and harmonium player Hava Horowitz for some mantra music and sacred songs.
Join us for some Irish and Scottish traditional tunes and a few songs. We are a group of musician friends, both professional and amateur, who play jigs, reels, hornpipes, as well as airs and songs. Please drop by. Dancing and general revelry encouraged!
Pressure Cooker is Boston’s original old-school reggae band. The group formed in 1997 with a shared passion of Jamaican ska, rocksteady, and reggae music of the sixties and seventies. With these roots as the guide, Pressure Cooker proudly crafted a uniquely Boston old-school reggae sound, reminiscent of the classics and distinguished by infectious rhythm and memorable songs — delivered by an all-star, horn-infused supergroup.
Need a pick-me-up? Pacific Marimba is a 7-piece marimba and percussion ensemble performing feel-good, lively dance music and songs originating from Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana. Marcus Santos will pop up by chance at three different hidden locations around town during ArtBeat week. We’ll have people holding signs to encourage passersby to keep moving and respect social distancing. Walk, talk, dance and keep moving with Marcus’ Afro beats. From Brazil to West Africa to the USA, enjoy these beats and our streets.
Join us at Arts for the Armory for this year's big ArtBeat finale!
3NITY means the uniting of 3 cultures based on our roots and influences from Africa, the U.S. and Latin America, and breaking barriers and fighting for the voice of our people. Our music represents who we are as Latinas--women, immigrants, artists, activists and beauty. 3NITY is more than just a band; it is a latin female movement that is working towards amplifying latina voices within a very male-dominated and sexist music industry.
Lechuga Fresca was born from a love of Latin music. We delight in playing mambo, classic salsa, and Latin jazz. Our audiences respond to our enthusiasm and the infectious rhythms by dancing, bopping, clapping and otherwise grooving to the feel-good music we present.
