The Pennies’ music is called “Americana”, which means that they play country, folk, rock and blues. They became a band in 2006. The songs are about love, heartbreak, the moon, trains, quarries, the devil, disasters, ghosts, the weather, and the undead.Later on the 19th, they will be opening for Greg Hawkes from the Cars.

We are a sing-along, strum-along group of ukulele players with members from Somerville and all over the Greater Boston Area. We pretty much just like to have fun playing music and don't take ourselves too seriously... after all, we are playing ukuleles! Whiskey River is a group of Harvard Divinity School students who share a love for jamming, folk music, and cold beer. Formed about 6 months ago by Zach on guitar and Alethia on violin, they were recently joined by Jack on ukelele and harmonica. You can often hear them playing on Somerville street corners in the early evenings.
