Klezwoods is a Boston-based amalgam of strings, horns and percussion that melds the spirit of traditional klezmer, Balkan and Arabic music with modern grooves, improvisation and East Coast attitude. The band’s unique sound stems from its members’ varied ethnic backgrounds. Klezwoods was born when bandleader Joseph Kessler was asked to bring together klezmer musicians for a “Klezmer Christmas” event at Cambridge’s Atwood’s Tavern some years ago. The band has been together ever since and continues to captivate audiences all over the world.
