Jorge Arce and Raíz de Plena play traditional Puerto Rican plena music and original compositions by Arce. Their music features traditional plena instruments: panderos, guiro and Puerto Rican cuatro framed by the big Latin Jazz sound of trumpets and trombones and includes call and response audience participation. Jorge Arce and Raíz de Plena have performed over 1,000 shows at colleges, conferences, schools, arts centers, fairs and community centers throughout the United States and Puerto Rico including the Betances Festival, Festival Puertorriqueño de Massachusetts, and the Lowell Folk Festival.
