Next Step

Next Step is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that offers free programming to teens and young adults affected by chronic, life-threatening illnesses. Now in its 24th year, Next Step has supported over 15,000 young people. At Next Step, seriously ill young people have a safe community to connect with peers, find their voice through music therapy, and receive guidance. Our Director of Song Studio, Kimberly, works with our youth to help them find their voice, take ownership of their story and develop self-advocacy through music. Some of them are eager to share their work and journey during Porchfest, using this opportunity to build their self-confidence.
