The Ruth & Ben String Band

We are a hard-driving, hard-grooving old time string band led by mother-son duo Ruth Rappaport (guitar/vocals) and Ben Wetherbee (fiddle/vocals) with the world-class banjo playing of Joel Wennerstrom and rock-solid bass playing of Larry Unger. From driving and trance-y dance tunes to powerful harmony singing, we play old time, bluegrass, country, and Cajun music with the power and creativity of rock'n'roll, psychedelic rock, punk, and jazz. We've been playing old time fiddle music most of our lives, perfecting our sound on the floors of square dances, fields of fiddlers conventions, and stages of folk clubs and dive bars.
