Join us on the historic stage of the Somerville Theatre as part of the annual ArtBeat Festival — a high-energy, community-centered celebration of performance in the heart of Somerville.
ArtBeat Dance invites dancemakers and dance companies to showcase new or existing work in a professionally supported festival setting. Selected artists will present their work in two afternoon performances on July 18, with a morning dress rehearsal the same day and a dedicated technical showing on Fri, July 10 12pm – 4pm focused on lighting and sound.
We provide a strong production framework so you can focus on your artistry. Artists receive support from a professional audio engineer/operator, lighting designer, and stage manager. The stage includes marley flooring, a shared repertory lighting plot, and basic audio playback capabilities. Stipends are provided for both dancemakers and performers.
ArtBeat Dance is a shared program, designed to uplift multiple artists in one cohesive festival experience. In return, we ask for full commitment and collaboration. Selected artists are expected to attend the Fri, July 10 12pm – 4pm technical showing and be available for the full festival day on July 18, including dress rehearsal and both performances. Artists must supply all requested technical information, materials, and deliverables by the deadlines outlined in acceptance correspondence, respond promptly to production communications, and participate in shared promotional efforts.
