Dancing in the Streets 2015

You are here

Check out all of our local and regional talent in squares, parks, lots across the city in May, June & July 2015. See below for detailed schedule and bios.

This year we expanded our vision to the series by adding a professional development component in addition to the performances. We sought companies that create original choreography derived from modern or ballet technique. Applicants were not expected to create "new" work for the submission but rather work they were currently refining.  Accepted companies had the opportunity to work with David Dorfman, an accomplished choreographer based in New York and currently teaching at Connecticut College.

We were also pleased that Cheri Opperman, of the National Dance Project at New England Foundation for the Arts and David Dorfman served as our guest curators.

And thanks to this year's tech crew, Emmett H. Buhmann on lighting design, Dana Westover on sound, and Victor Tiernan on flooring.

2015 funding for the performance series is generously provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, with support from the Boston Dance Alliance. The professional development component was supported by the Somerville Arts Council.
