"A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it...." - Irving Penn

Photography is a way to connect and share an experience-- it tells a story. Whether it is in an urban marketplace or pastoral landscape, the artistic lens has the capacity to capture the true essence of humanity. Even in the subtlest of moments, one simple click of the shutter can encapsulate the heart and soul of a people.

In this current Inside-OUT exhibit, photographer, Sudi Chakravathy explores these themes. It is a collection that not only an exploration of emotive content, but visual passport for the viewer that gives a closer glimpse to a community’s character.

Artist statement

Photography for me is a way to share ephemeral moments as I witness without words. I hope to convey the mood, mania, or majesty through emotive content. My work depicts nature, humanity, and history in color, composition, and texture – while emphasizing the subtle and the undercurrent.

I use black and white compositions to explore harmony of shape, structure, and expression; and color imagery to reflect life, luster, and emotion. Print media like a book's cover, is often deliberately chosen to complement the images theme.
