This adventurous band of local artists--with names like La Cobra Verde and Selecta Sleepp--will transform the Jimmy Tingle Theatre into a miraculous space beyond the scope of conventional beliefs.

12:30PM — Underkroft Improv
The Underkroft perform original one-act musical comedies with live accompaniment, sometimes in the dark. The dialogue, lyrics, and music are all made up right on the spot. The Underkroft have been performing their unique brand of theater in the area since 2001 and are delighted to be participating in ArtBeat. The Underkroft are Benari, Bevin, Jason, Josh, Laura, Shawn, and Gerger.

1:30PM — City Stage Co. presents Adventures of Tom Thumb
The History and the Adventures of Tom Thumb, from City Stage Company, is participatory play where the audience takes a bow. Performed by 2 adult professional actors, with volunteers who join them on stage. For ages 2 and up. City Stage Co. is celebrating 30 years of providing opportunities for families to participate in the performing arts. The company received a 2005 Elliot Norton Award from the Boston Theater Critics Association.

2:30PM — Earthworm Puppet Theater
Earthworm Pie Puppet Theater presents "Worm Magic," a show for all ages about the wonders of the world underfoot. See a tale about a woman whose kindness to sparrows brings her good luck, an extremely silly hand puppet show on the ugly beauty of composting, and a funny fable on worms and their role in the ecosystem.

3:30PM — Boston Typewriter Orchestra
The BTO is a collective endeavor that engages in rhythmic typewriter manipulation combined with elements of performance, comedy and satire. Up to this point the orchestra has played exclusively manual typewriters; however, they recently have added two IBM Selectrics typewriters to the mix. The combination of the strong key-strike sound with the low latency of these machines will allow the BTO to experiment with a new "plugged" sound.
