Somerville Songwriter Sessions at the Armory Cafe presents a live, in-person concert with singer/songwriters Tim Foley, Doug Kwartler and Sam Bayer on Saturday November 5. The concert will feature a solo set by each artist, followed by a round robin song swap. The show begins at 7:30 pm, and there is a suggested donation of $15. Tim Foley is a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist whose sound doesn't settle easily into a descriptive box. You'll hear an amalgamation of musical styles he has gravitated towards, which include blues, jazz, folk, classical, and funk. Tim lived in New Orleans for a number of years, and his music is heavily influenced by the city's tradition of musical experimentation. His songs, both instrumental and vocal, range from upbeat foot stompers to relaxing melodic soundscapes. He has a self-produced instrumental CD featuring original guitar instrumentals and is currently finishing up an album featuring his jazzier material in a band setting. More at www.timfoley.space.
Doug Kwartler's songs have been featured on major television networks including the top CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, the TNT drama Dark Blue, the ABC soap opera All My Children as well as in independent films. He was chosen as a Falcon Ridge Festival Emerging New Artist in 2013. For over 20 years, Doug has recorded produced a host of artists out of his Chelmsford based studio, Hollow Body Studios.
