The Arts Council has launched a new grant program to support the local BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community with a special emphasis on serving the Black community and celebrating Black culture. This grant program is designed to serve individual BIPOC artists, as well as build organizational capacity to provide leadership in arts presenting, programming and instruction that predominantly serves BIPOC culture.
We anticipate providing one-time Fellowships of up to $4,000 and project grants of between $3,000 and $15,000 each. This new BIPOC Support grant program, and SAC’s new COVID Relief grant program, have a total of $120,000 to distribute.
The submission deadline is Monday, Oct. 12th at 11:59 p.m.
We anticipate announcing awards no later than Oct. 28th. Grant recipients must complete their projects by May 1, 2021.
The grant review team for SAC’s BIPOC community support grants will consist of five members of Somerville’s BIPOC community who have volunteered to help with the program. They are: Tori Weston, Melika Fitzhugh, Kpafun, Peter Marquez, Janette Anne Santos.
