The Shrinking Islands mix the propulsive, jangly sound of early REM and their Athens cohorts with a stripped-down aesthetic borrowed from the classic days of indiepop. The Cambridge-based band was formed in 2004 as a two-piece consisting of drummer Andy Tefft and singer/ guitarist Kyle Bittinger. Their first album “In the Black Carpet” was released by Sort Of Records in 2006.
